OUR TEAM

ANDREW STEPHEN GILL TEP
Managing Principal | Director

Andrew is the Managing Principal of ASG Lawyers.
Andrew is a Law Society of NSW Accredited Specialist in Wills and Estates, and he is a fully registered Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) with STEP.
He has First-Class Honours Degrees in both Law (Macquarie) and Economics (Murdoch), and a Master of Laws majoring in Wills and Estates. Andrew has won numerous academic prizes in law (taxation law, competition and consumer law, commercial law, media law, and law and religion) and has completed extensive leadership training at Harvard University, is a director of, and volunteers at, the Northern Beaches Community Legal Centre and is a sessional academic at Macquarie University where he teaches succession law, and equity and trusts.
Law is a second career for Andrew. Prior to law, he worked in the financial sector. He was a proprietary trader at a global macro hedge fund, and at the US investment bank Goldman Sachs. He has also worked as an economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia, where he advised the RBA’s Governor and Board regarding the appropriate setting of interest rates. Andrew often calls on this experience, and his ability to understand complex financial arrangements, when advising his clients about estate and succession planning.
People often ask Andrew: why the change from a successful career in financial markets to law, and why Wills and estates? His answer is close to home for many clients. He witnessed first-hand the devastation of his own mother’s cognitive decline brought about by dementia, and the difficulties associated with trying to navigate the complex minefield that is aged care, The Public Trustee, and the Succession List.

Andrew is an advocate for vulnerable people’s rights. Having lost his then 14-year-old son (Josh) during the COVID lockdowns in August 2021, he knows all too well that grief is the price we pay for love. Andrew currently lives in North Curl Curl with his wife (Di), his daughter (Zoe), and their two dogs (Joy and Millie).
